On January 28, 1986 The Space Shuttle Challenger broke apart 73 seconds into its flight, killing all seven crew members aboard.

Adding to the tragedy was the death of Christa McAuliffe, a teacher from New Hampshire.  McAuliffe was set to be the first teacher in space and she was a huge inspiration to American students and teachers, including my dad.
